2015 / A different side of Bangkok

February 20, 2016

 Bangkok, Thailand

Even though I've been to Bangkok a couple of times now, I'd never traveled out of central Bangkok where all the shopping and eating happen. And I wouldn't have, if not for an elective I took in university that called for this field trip. It was a full week of temples after temples, learning the history of Thai art from the Ayutthayan period to modern days. These places of worship all lay in west Bangkok in Thonburi, the opposite bank of the Chao Praya River to the malls and night markets we're all so familiar with. As tiring as it sounds, it was an eye-opening experience to learn a bit of their history in politics and religion through art in this shopping capital of Southeast Asia.

 Seoul, South Korea

Real procrastination is editing holiday photos from the summer of twenty FOURTEEN. That's almost an eternity ago and I can hardly recall having been to Seoul at all with ma #seoulspinster, RX. I kid - I do. I do remember how it was real chilly the night we reached South Korea and we braced ourselves for the cold by wearing jeans the next day... only to resist the urge of ripping them off in the scorching heat of the sun. I also remember the one time a local asked me for directions. And now, I will always recall that upon seeing some of these photos.

Does anybody remember of this space?
I do. Because it's where I get to talk to myself and sound less insane.

Anyhoo, I wanted to dive straight into editing photos right after coming back since I didn't have much to do. Obviously, procrastination got the better of me and here I am, more than a month since I came back and have even settled into semester 2. Yet I still have not filtered through photos from the second half of the trip, much less edited the shit out of them.

OK SO Taiwan trip 2013 - 10D9N, 5D in Taipei, 4D in Hualien Kenting and Kaohsiung, Airbnb accommodation in Taipei, hotel accommodation everywhere else only booked when we were in Taipei lol, crazy cold weather which makes me wonder how I survived 10D in Northern India the year before, stinky tofu which made the back alley smell more like a back alley than it would on its own, etc...

We saw beautiful sunny weather in the day time that permitted us to wear a single layer and even shades. Unfortunately, it went away by the afternoon zzz.

I've got like 2 million shots of this memorial hall from 2 million angles and distances lol

2013 / Thailand / Bangkok (2)

March 22, 2013
After almost 2 weeks, here's the final installment to the mere 2-part photo diary of Bangkok 2013. My only motivation for getting this done asap was the USS trip last week (WHICH I STILL WANNA RELIVE ;~~~;) and I wanna put up those photos too! Heh. Also, only while editing did I realise there is actually an equally hell lot of photos from the final 2 days in Bangkok, as there is for the first 2.

So here are days 3 and 4, which were spent around Siam, Asiatique, Terminal 21 and Thonglo Soi 13~ The iPhone also strikes again because well, 120g versus 1200g for shopping - it's a no brainer right?

Finally, I have put together this post after painstakingly editing the photos individually some time back. This post by itself is rather image-heavy, so photos of day 3 and 4 will be left to the next post... which should come soon, I hope. There are much fewer photos taken on those days anyway.

So yes, this is the visual documentation of mostly Day 2 - where we spent it at Chatuchak Weekend Market in the day since it was a Saturday, and Rod Fai (Train) Market at night. Day 1... was almost non-existent because we only reached the hotel at 9PM. Still, there are about.. five photos from that night lol.
